Done Uploading

With a simple click of a button, you can inform your tax professional that you are done uploading your tax documents.

Getting started is easy as 1, 2, 3…
  • Step 1: Sign Up
    • When you receive the TaxCaddy invitation email from Lewis & Knopf, click the “Get Started” button.
    • You will receive a 6 digit code to the phone number we have on file. If no phone number is on file, you will be asked to enter a mobile phone number.
    • Enter your 6 digit code to authenticate your account.
    • Want an easier way to login? On the mobile app, a screen will appear to setup a Biometric login using a fingerprint. (This is not required and can be skipped/set up at a later date.) 
    • Select the 2025 Tax Year
    • Enter your spouse’s information if applicable. You can skip this and add at any time in your TaxCaddy account settings.
    • A welcome tutorial will appear showing you useful features and ways to navigate the TaxCaddy app. Welcome to TaxCaddy!
  • Step 2: Prepare & Gather
    • Once you are logged into TaxCaddy you can begin uploading documents at any time.
    • Once you accept our invite to connect with Lewis & Knopf, we will send you a list of items in TaxCaddy based on your prior year taxes that we expect will be needed to complete your tax return. (please allow 24-48 hours to receive this list)
    • You can send messages to your accountant from the “Messages” menu.
    • On the main home page you will see a section to Gather & Prepare. From this overview page, easily track your progress on completing your questionnaire, confirming your personal information, and uploading your documents that we requested from you.
    • The required tasks to complete are as follows:
      • Confirm your personal information
      • Complete your questionnaire
      • Provide new tax forms that were not applicable in prior years
      • Provide all requested documents via a Photo or File Upload
        • If items are no longer applicable, mark these items as “Already Provided” or “Doesn’t Apply” and this will fulfill the request.
  • Step 3: "Done Uploading" and Communicating with a Tax Professional
    • Once all tasks are complete, submit your items to Lewis & Knopf by selecting “Done Uploading”. This will let us know that you have provided everything that we requested.
    • Still waiting on tax documents to arrive? Let us know and we will begin preparing your return based on what you have provided so far. Once your documents are received, you can upload them at any time.
    • As we prepare your tax return be sure to monitor your TaxCaddy for new messages or new documents we request. We will update you throughout the process via “Messages” in TaxCaddy. Let us know if you have any questions and we will respond promptly.

Your Annual TaxCaddy Action Steps

Each January, you’ll find important action items within your TaxCaddy account.  Make sure to:

  • Review your requested items
  • Complete the questionnaire
  • Upload the necessary items to your requested items or respond with the applicable response:
    • Reply with amount
    • Already provided
    • Doesn’t apply

Once you’ve completed the requested items and the questionnaire for this tax year, click Done Uploading. Still waiting on tax documents to arrive? Let us know and we will begin preparing your return based on what you have provided so far. Once your documents are received, you can upload them at any time.
