Trevor Smith

Accounting Associate

Trevor joined Lewis & Knopf in 2022 as an Accounting Associate in the Small Business Services department. In his role, he records and reconciles transactions, assists with month-end and year-end closing processes, and supports both business and individual tax preparation.

Trevor works closely with small business clients to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. While he assists with business returns, much of his work focuses on individual tax preparation. He has helped clients identify cost-saving opportunities to maximize profitability and has assisted in uncovering fraudulent activity within a company, helping protect its financial stability.

Trevor is currently pursuing his degree after transferring from Mott Community College to the University of Michigan–Flint, with an expected graduation in Fall 2027. He was drawn to accounting because of his interest in numbers, problem-solving, and understanding how organizations operate.

Known for being adaptive and supportive, Trevor’s personal philosophy is simple: “Everything you do, do with all your might, because things done in halves are never done right.” He attributes his growth and success to maintaining a positive attitude, communicating effectively, and committing to continuous learning.

Before beginning his accounting career, Trevor worked in customer-focused roles at Taco Bell and Best Buy, where he developed strong service, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Trevor grew up in Flushing, Michigan, and continues to reside there with his fiancée, Taylor, and their two cats, Sonny and Maeve. In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching sports — including participating in a slow-pitch softball league — as well as fishing, hiking, trivia, and watching movies. He is also proud to have gone skydiving in Grand Haven, Michigan.
